Can We Talk About Pay Discrimination/Equal Pay/Strategic Compensation Practices? An Exploratory Study on Framing Gender Pay Inequity

Abstract Situated within the public will and political framework, this paper explores frames to address social issue of gender pay inequity. Specifically, authors examine whether demographic characteristics affect perceived acceptability different describing inequity perceptions issue. First, identified 26 terms used discuss inequity; list was narrowed 12, representing four categories. Next, solicited sentiment reactions those Taken together, results indicated that although respondents had consistently positive fair pay, equal fairness, varied across groups. The biggest effects were for party-related variables. One frame, strategic compensation practices, emerged as a value-neutral frame could potentially be reframe re-engage business stakeholders who do not perceive problematic.
